Open Burning Permit

FORT LEWIS MESA FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT

Permits are issued Monday thru Thursday 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Please allow 3 business days for the permit to be reviewed.

Once issued, permits are valid for :

Open Burning - 10 days

Burn Pits - 3 months

Burn Barrels - 6 months

Contact the local dispatch 970-385-2900 prior to lighting the burn each day of the permit.

Any person who knowingly or willingly fails to obtain a required permit and/or violates the permit system shall be subject to the provisions of Section 105 of the “International Fire Code” as adopted by La Plata County.
