BOARD of DIRECTORS’ MEETING MINUTES
March 12, 2024

Ginny DeJong called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.
All stood for the Pledge of Allegiance.
Minutes Approval: Ted moved that Minutes for the February 13th meeting be approved.
Ginny seconded the motion; Minutes were approved.
Treasurer’s Report:
• The February financial reports were reviewed and discussed. The Board noted the
$79K transferred from Committed Funds/Money Market line to the TBK checking
account. Ted motioned to accept the Treasurer’s Report; Debbie seconded.
Reports were accepted.
Public Comment:
None were received.
Office Managers Report:
• The Audit Exemption Application draft, accompanied by the Resolution which
authorizes electronic submittal, was reviewed, adopted, and signed by all Board
Members present. Michelle Sainio, Frederick Zink associate, will be finalizing
adjusted journal entries. Jeannine will give a copy of the final Audit Exemption
Application for the Board of Directors to review and finalize.
• Debbie motioned to recognize all part-time employees (not hired as firefighters) as
“Auxiliary to firefighting” for FPPA Statewide Money Purchase Plan (SWMP)
contribution purposes. This would mean they would no longer be enrolled in or have
deducted Social Security but instead would be enrolled in and have deducted the
8% toward the SWMP retirement benefit. Ted seconded it. Motion passed.Meeting Minutes FLMFPD Board 3/12/24 Page 2 of 2
Chief’s Report:
• Chief reported the Ambulance Grant was pushed out to the 1st quarter of 2025.
• The Chief reported that Tyler Bell, the new firefighter hire, has been in-
processed and working his shifts. He is a Level 1 driver, qualified (PU truck
chassis).
• The Chief said the EMT Basic class is going strong. Baylee Beals is back in EMT
class in Bayfield.
• The Chief noted there was good networking in Grand Junction at the L-481 course
he taught.
• The Pinewood Derby was fun, the Chief felt.
• April 20, 2024, the RT 130, is scheduled.
• Michael O’Donnell is on Spring Break.
• Chief presented to the Board the priority list of Capital Improvements:
1) Quote for Sign – Station 1.
2) Concrete for – Station 3.
3) Flagpole & Rain Gutters – Station 1.
Unfinished Business:
Action Item Review: Items were reviewed.
New Business:
• The Board reviewed Liberty Sheek’s Seasonal Wildland Application. It was the only
one received. Debbie motioned to approve; Ted seconded. Motion passed.
• The Board also accepted Joe Bystriski as a volunteer with FLMFPD, pending his
paperwork submittal. He is an Air Operations Branch Director/Air Space
Coordinator.
• Debbie had sent a message to the other Board members to let them know she will
be done when her term ends May 2025. Ginny commented, ‘she should have
responded to the message. She said she is happy for Debbie, but she doesn’t have
to be happy about her leaving.’
