The Fort Lewis Mesa Fire Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Chris Anderson as the Interim Fort Lewis Mesa Fire Chief. Chris assumed his new duties Saturday, June 1, 2013. Chris’s contract as interim chief will run for six months. Chris was sworn in at the June 4 Board meeting.
Chris is a 12-year volunteer member of Fort Lewis Mesa Fire and recently retired as a captain from Farmington Fire in New Mexico with 19 years of service. Additionally, Chris served with Animas Fire District for five years. Even though he had been looking forward to his first summer in retirement with his wife Julia and two daughters, Chris looks forward to serving the District as Interim Chief.
Chris replaces KG Lockwood who stepped down on May 22, 2013. With wildfire season just around the corner, the board felt it important to get an Interim Chief in place quickly.
